Exploration on the Development of Creativity of Elementary School Students by the Project-based Task

Abstract

This study investigated the potential for creativity development of elementary school students by project-based task of creativity competition. The creativity competition was held to foster the creativity of the 6th grade elementary school students in Chungnam, Korea. It was found that the project task of creativity competition effected on the improvement of inventing creative ideas and problem solving activities. But, only some competitors participated in semifinal and final contests, presented original and interesting ideas. Totally, participants with creativity competition were defective in discussion and communication, and presentation and listening ideas. But, attending on the process of problem solving, they shared ideas with other peer students, and took a task cooperatively. There are more need of inquiry project learning programs and presenting opportunities of conversion of thinking by discussing instructions in school.
