A Comparison of Learning Style of Science Gifted Students and General Students

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine learning styles of science gifted and general students and compare between them. Subjects were 124 gifted students of the Science Education Institute for The Gifted adjacent for University and 165 general middle school students. Learning styles were classified into six categories (independent, dependent, collaborative, competitive, participant and avoidant). Science gifted students showed collaborative, participant, independent and competitive learning styles. Female gifted students showed high scores more than males in participant and collaborative levels. General students showed collaborative, participant and competitive learning styles. There were no differences between genders. Science gifted students showed high scores more than general students in dependent, collaborative, competitive and participant learning styles.
